Peer Review in Proof Writing

Dear Colleagues, Friends, & Supporters,

We just came back from our workshop in Seattle -- and as always it was fun and inspiring for us to learn with the participants. Specials thanks to Allison Henrich who was a wonderful host and organizer!

Our March blog describes how we include the process of peer review into proof writing. A learning community with a composition course allowed us to experiment with peer review using the ideas of our colleagues from the English department, especially Jen DiGrazia.

We will be at the MAA PREP IBL workshop in San Louis Obispo in July. Please consider registering for this workshop (focussing on preparing college level IBL courses). More information about the workshop, format, etc. at http://www.inquirybasedlearning.org/

In case you have missed it: our website now allows faculty to create a free faculty account and access teacher materials to some of our books. We are working on completing the teacher materials for all the books. Please have a look and tell us what you think.

Sincerely,

Julian Fleron, Phil Hotchkiss, Volker Ecke, & Christine von Renesse.

Twice now I had the pleasure of teaching a learning community with an English composition class. And each time I was impressed by the peer review process that my colleague Jen DiGrazia used for all student papers. This blog will show you how we adapted the peer review process to improve proof writing.
