We are excited that the Conference Board of Mathematical Sciences (https://www.cbmsweb.org/), an umbrella organization for all the major math societies (MAA, AMS, SIAM, ASA, AMATYC, etc.), has just released a joint statement supporting active learning (pdf). The statement includes the following call:
[W]e call on institutions of higher education, mathematics departments and the mathematics faculty, public policy-makers, and funding agencies to invest time and resources to ensure that effective active learning is incorporated into post-secondary mathematics classrooms.
We are especially excited about the possibility of getting more faculty to join in the efforts towards active learning that we have been fostering and supporting for many years.
