Dear Colleagues, Friends, & Supporters,

We had a wonderful time facilitating the workshop at Assumption College and hope that this will start a yearly tradition of a New England IBL meeting! Additionally Phil Hotchkiss enjoyed working with secondary teachers on quantitative reasoning at Northern Arizona University. Our next workshop will be in March at Ventura College in sunny California :)

Informed by discussions with our students, this month’s blog invites you to consider the connections mathematics has to the common core, the liberal arts, and important goals of reports like the just-released Common Visions Report. Julian Fleron also uses this context to describe the logo for our project and to touch on its symbolic role in these connections.

We are excited that our students' discoveries about Rascal's triangle were accepted for publication in Math Horizons!

Sincerely,

Julian Fleron, Phil Hotchkiss, Volker Ecke, & Christine von Renesse.
