Dear Colleagues, Friends, & Supporters,

It is hard to believe that summer "break" is over. We just came back from a wonderful workshop in Ithaca, NY and are getting ready for our IBL classes. This month's blog is about "cool things", which help show your passion about mathematics to your students. Do you share with your students why you love mathematics?

Please consider visiting us in Westfield, MA during the semester to observe our classes and discuss the nuts and bolts of teaching IBL in an MLA class (and other classes) with us. We love to collaborate.

Contact us to learn more about visiting us.

Sincerely,

Julian Fleron, Phil Hotchkiss, Volker Ecke, & Christine von Renesse.

Cool thing: Bee dance

Think of the 5 coolest things you know in mathematics. Did you ever think about including them in your MLA course? You can, and perhaps should.
“Cool things” are short “mini presentations or activities” about a mathematical topic that is exciting to us and usually different from the math content that we are currently working on in class.
